It took ten innings for them to overcome the Mines team, who were out to gain their third win. In each of the first four innings inn-ings one run was gained by the U.S. crew. In the fourth Inning Lee Johnson took the pitching assignment as-signment from Dan Rasmussen and from then on U.S. had con- siderable trouble and were forced to go scoreless. Magna went scoreless from the fourth, in which U. S. tied the score, until the tenth, when the winning tally was made. Two men were out when Horace Woodbury came through with a line drive to bring in Wally Walbeck, Frank Shepherd got his hand on the ball Woodbury drove out but was unable un-able to hold it. Alvin Shafer fattened his batting batt-ing average by driving out three safeties. Gemmell Wins The most decisive league victory, vic-tory, chalked up so far this year was the 20-4 win Gemmell made over Midvale. Evidently on a hitting hitt-ing spree, the Gemmell men hit everything three Midvale pitchers could offer to collect 22 hits a-gainst a-gainst the eight hits Midvale managed man-aged to salvage. Heavynhltting Frank Zacoaria smashed out two circuit blows, one double and single In 5 times at the plate. Kastellic, Fish and Bush made three safeties each.
