were hundreds of them for lrl the Elks have friends and relatives just like other creatures It was not m long before most of the visitors and terln upon other pursuits They were merciless on those whom they knew bawling out their friends by name and insisting on the purchase of tickets And then the souvenir vendors Lusty lunged hombres who shrieked their wares Jn choice terms that would have made Chlmmy Fadden weep tp think what an altogether decayed vocabulary ho had And the men who ran the voting vot-ing contests Dont forget the voting contests Every member of the local lodge had a job to pass the time which it must be said never hung heavy for more than about ono second at stretch The slot machines ma-chines were surrounded good part of the afternoon the soda water fountains did well and the bar What was It we said about things of which we may not speak Well anyhow as Jimmy Williams says the bartenders did not recline gracefully In hammocks with their silken lingerie thrown carelessly about their lissome forms all the afternoon after-noon Not at all brethren They like the boy who swallowed the yeast cake worked some To be strictly veracious they did not get a chance to wipe off the bar during the afternoon The thirsty mortals lined up two and three deep all around the rail and shouted weakly for conversational water The same men did not stand there all the afternoon and the order was very good suprprls ingly BO for such a throng Nobody got obstreperous and then t you know V everybody drinks beer at the lake Altogether it was a riproaring old time fun enough and crowd enough for everybody Had the carrying facilities fa-cilities of the railroad been a little better bet-ter or more trains been run there would have been no kick at all to register It was all
