Show Cen. Rich Proposes Posse Training School A three day school to train members of Utah's 16 jeep and sheriffs posses on emergencies natural and man made was proposed last week by Major General Maxwell E. Rich, Utah Adjutant General. The general introduced his plan at a gathering of several posse members in the Salt Lake National Guard Armory at 1523 East Sunnyside Ave. The meeting meet-ing was in conjunction with the annual general inspection of the 133rd Special Forces Headquarters, Headquar-ters, the Salt Lake unit composed of guerilla warfare experts who will coordinate instruction of the posse members. Members of the Bountiful Salt Lake, Price, Brigham City, Weber, Davis, Morgan, and Utah County Jeep Posses attended the session. The first school will be at Camp W. G. Williams in midsummer mid-summer and the Salt Lake Jeep Possees will probably be the first to take the course. Posse members will be briefed on counter-guerilla activities as military intelligence and counter .intelligence, and on raids and riot control, ambushes, demolitions, demoli-tions, communications, weapons and survival. I They will also receive instruction instruc-tion on various rescue operation such as mountain climbing, skin diving, first aid, etc. "This program will greatly widen the scope of operations for the Utah posses and will prove to be of great aid in case of emergencies," emer-gencies," the general said. |
