Show BOX ELDER LIBERALS- In the news columns of to-day's Timi.s we report a recent meeting of the Liberals of Corinne, tho strong- j hold of Box Elder count'. After a full I discussion, the representatives of the old cause in that locality voted to disband. dis-band. The work of disintegration goes steadily forward. More and more every day the people see that the future of Utah is now to be made by the discussion dis-cussion of national politics and the division di-vision on national lines. The members of the Liberal party in j Salt Lake county ought to learn a valuable valu-able lesson from thiu incident. They certainly have had confidence through all the yeara of the past in the judgment and patriotism of tho men who have maintained their fight against great odd in the outlying counties. Jt cannot can-not be denied that these former representatives repre-sentatives of their cause are in a far better position to judge the motives and purposes of the former members of the People's party than the matter can be judged here at the capital. Why. theu, should they not have confidence confi-dence in the verdict which they are rendering throughout the territory in favor of the division movement? The inlliienoei that are trying to keep tho old party solid here come largely from men who are after the spoils. They ear.not be expected to fairly weigh 1 he importance of the action of outside Liberals. But to the mass of the people in Salt Lake this action should carry the utmost significance. It means that the new movement U undertaken in the utmost good faith, ami that Utah has everything to gain from reconciliation and everything to lose by insistence upon the old condi-j condi-j tions that have been worn away by the ; friction of the years. |
