Show COMMUNICATIONS. They Helped the Liberal Caoae. Editor Thk Times i believe that the introduction in-troduction of the KaulUner-C'aino anil Teller bills in the American parliament was partly the means of the wonderful victory achieved by the loyal American liberal party of u!t Lake on Monday last. Had tho leaders of the mormon church, with their gentile aide-ile-cauips, but known the effects thst the introduction of the said bills would have upon tho mindr. of some of the so-called democrats and republicans, 115 well as upon tho minds of many undecided as to which of the three tickets they would vote, they certainly would have held back both bills till after the city election. So, sir, you may depend upon it that the introduction of be 1 1 the bills opened the oyes of not a few to the true inwardness of the priesthood i f mormon and their gentile aides having axes to grind. I heard a citizen in one of the precincts, coming up lo the ticket vender, say: "I am a republican." A republic an tic ket wns handed to him. Ho carefully folded the ticket, placing it in his pocket, Ho then received from tt liberal a liberal ticket auu voted it straight. I am here informed of n little bit of mormon history. When .losepb Smith, the "choice seer," wished to prove to the world how learned he was and how muc h better he knew the delinition of the word inormo mormon than Webster or.lohi'-son. or.lohi'-son. you msy be sure that the pious Joseph j did not interpret the word mormo morm' ii as did the latter gentleman, viz., "A hideous she monster," "n bugbear," "monster, "etc., etc. Oh, no. With Joseph, the "seer,' Bible mean good and the Rook of Mormon more good. So 1 sny of the Faulkner. ' Cat Be bill, good, and the Teller bill, "more good," i. c , good and more good for the j liberal party, inasmuch as both bills were bota to soon, the result treating more lib. 1 eral votes. Respectfully, Joseph Sii.vek. Salt LaJLl Citv, Feb. 11, IM. - |
