Show THE FIE El) OF LE.lRyiG. The Annual Report of the Schools Makes Its Appearance. Annual reports of the schools for the year ending Jund SO last are in circulation. The work covers fifty-four pages and shows a most wholesome condition of affairs among the schools at this time. Among its various features are the president's auuual address, reports of the clerk and treasurer, the various committees, rules and regulations for the government of officers and teachers in the public schools, course of study in the different differ-ent grades, etc. It contains much of interest inter-est and will be eagerly sought by parents and patrons of learning. There is also extant a pamphlet, issued under direction of the school board, showing the course in the new high school which em. braces lour years and prepares the candidate for any college of which the country boasts. The classics are covered by Cicero, the ".Eneid" and the "Iliad." In the department depart-ment of rhetoric the Merchant of Venice is used freely as are also recitations from Maeaulay and Webster. Indeed the course reflects the high standard of Zion's present field of learning and will commend itself to all those whose search for a new home is influenced by the character of local schools. |
