John Brooks was giren surprise last- nicht by the employees of the Troy Laundry in honor of his return from the I.aundrymens' convention in St. Louis. The affair was entirely unexpected to him and therefore doubly enjoyable. The event caine off in the bundle department of the laundry on Sixth East street in a room well adapted to the requirements of the occasion. oc-casion. Some 200 young ladies and gentlemen, gentle-men, nearly all of whom were employees of the institution, participated in the enjoyment enjoy-ment of the evening. The boys bad secured Hauerbach's orchestra which furnished the music for the datcinsr. and the ladies had gotten up a supper which would have honored hon-ored a fairy's table. The coffee was a nector for the gods and the cakes and sandwiches were so facinatina: to a hungry palate as only the dainty finders of a woman could make. The boys and cirls enjoyed themselves them-selves to the utmost and everyone' was more than satisfied with the results of the even-.U2"s even-.U2"s entertainment which they had 60 secretly se-cretly arranged. |
