Show AMUSEMENTS. A fashionable audience greeted Emma Abbott at the theater last night. The opera was Verdi's "Ernani." Abbott Ab-bott had a bad cold and It annoyed her not a little, but etery one else was in good voice. Abbott's costumes were even more elegant than ever. Pruette and; Brodrick were, however, the favorites. The former has a magnificent magnifi-cent voice of unusual power and richness, rich-ness, and he sang as though his whole soul was iu his work. Brod-erick Brod-erick was almost as good. Michelena has an even tenor voice and acquitted himself well. The chorus was magnifi-cent magnifi-cent : Every voice was a trained one and the whole blended into a volume of harmony. It was the strongest chorus that Abbott has ever brought with her to this city. Verdi's "II Trovatore" tonight. |
