On tli train which reached this place from Chicago was a rough-looking man who had in charge a bo said to contain tho body of a child. The box bore a phy-tiiciau's phy-tiiciau's certificate. The man had it removed re-moved to a livery stable, where he explained ex-plained that it contained glass. Soon alter ho called for it, and, taking it in his arms proceeded toward the river. This forenoon the box was found on the ice in the river. Scattered around were a lot of of straw and a buantity of rags to which pieces of ilesh adhered. There was aiso a quantity of lake Sand, which was evidently used to sink the box. The belief is that the box contained con-tained a body whiclj has been cut up and sunk in the river. No trace of the man who accompanied the box could be found today. Nothing is known further than that tho box came from Chicago. |
