The snow blockade block-ade on the Midland road near Ivanhoe, where a passenger train has been under the snow, was raised yesterday. Silverton and Telluride are still snowed under. The drifts in many places are forty feet high. Provisions are carried into these towns on snow-shoes, snow-shoes, and all hopes of railway communication com-munication with them inside of a month in abandoned. The Rainbow route. from Silverton to Ironton, is paralyzed, and no train will attempt to go over the line for weeks. The fall of snow throughout the Sau Juan country and the southwestern portion of the state has been the greatest for many years. Information from Santa Fe, New Mexico, says the Kio Grande mail and express trains were snowed under for three days between Antonio and Tres-pedas. |
