The Result of the Refusal of Manager Sergeant to Work in the Interest of the Government. Toronto, March 13. A special cable dispatch from London to the Globe ays that Sir Henry Tyler publishes a long reply to 'flipper's charges. He shows how on February 25th, Sir Charles had a long interview with General Gen-eral Manager Sergeant of the Grand Trunk, and warmly ap pealed for support to the company n the present emergency, promising in return that if the government was sustained sus-tained the company should have the fullest and most friendly support" from the government when required. Because the appeal was refused, Tupper turns round to smite the company com-pany with bitter invective. The only political interests the company nave in Canada are the interests in-terests of th Grand Trunk. Tyler thinks the company in a better position in regard to the government as a result of their independent action than if Manager Sergeant had shown subserviency. Sergeant, he says, deserves de-serves the support and approval of everyone connected with the company. |
