Show RELATING TO LIBEL tho the international league of press clubs in session at philadelphia unanimously resolved to urge the different state logi legislative slathe bodies to enact the following follo ing law that before any suit shall be brought tor for the publication ot of a libel in any newspaper lit in this state tho the aggrieved party parly shall at least three days before filing or serving the such suit bull serve notice on the publisher or publishers of said newspaper at their principal office of publication specifying the statements in tho the said which he ox or they allege to be false and defamatory it if it shall appear on the ti it lal jai ot of sald said action that the said bald article was published in rood good faith alts falsity was duo due to tho the mistake or misapprehension of the facts and that a full and fair retraction ot of any statement therein alleged to be erroneous was published in the next regular issue ot of such auch newspaper or in case of dally papers within three days day after such Trib mistake stake or misapprehension pion was brought to the knowledge of such publisher or publishers in as conspicuous st a place and type in such newspaper as was the article complained of as libel lous inus then the plaintiff in such fatch case shall I 1 decover only actual damages pro aided however that the provisions ot of this act shall not apply to the case of any libel against any candidate for a public nice in this state unless the retraction of the charge Is made editor tally lally in a conspicuous manner at least three days before tile the election n in case such li bellous article was published in a dally daily paper it if published in a weekly y paper at least ten days before the election |
