Show flourishing conditions AT TONOPAH special correspondence tonopah To nevada june 20 the man on the ground has become so familiar with the great intrinsic value of the mines of tono pah that a slump in the price does not in the least decrease the actual value of the shares held by him to the min man not on the aroun ground d such a decided slump as has occurred during the month of june has a tendency to weaken his faith in the camp the question naturally arises if conditions are as he has been led to believe why should such a reaction in market quotations occur in a city of people 1000 of which are employed in its mines and with the fact established that every man and woman in possession of a dollar has that dollar invested in its stock no stronger evidence can be presented of the actual merits of those mines than this and when a sharp reaction takes place there are hundreds always ready to take advantage of the same as has been the case with the recent slump which was only of short duration the great tonopah mining company of nevada has recently opened the mizpah ledge on the level and is now drifting east and west the ledge has been proven thirty feet wide and carries the same values as shown on the levels above stations are now being cut on the and levels and crosscutting cross cutting will be commenced in the near future at the companas comp anys wells twelve miles west of tonopah To and located on the tonopah railroad ground has been broken for the erection of a 10 stamp mill and also a large electric power plant this plant will be of sufficient capacity to furnish power for all the mines of tonopah To and also for the illumination of the city at the montana the management has decided not to sink the knox shaft but instead will add a compartment to its present shaft which is undoubtedly a wise proceeding ce as it will be a saving of at least to the company the physical condition of the mine never looked so well as at present the tonopah extension is working the usual number of men and is continually adding to the ore reserves and also to its cash reserve in the treasury another dividend may be expected in the near future and before the year is out they will undoubtedly be paying regularly each month the midway is looking better than ever on the level they are raising sinking and drifting on the east drift the face shows a width of nine feet of good shipping quality A larger hoist will be installed in the near future pending its arrival ore shipments will not be so heavy as in the past three months this is no doubt one of the great mines of the districts district and in the few months which have elapsed since ore was encountered the record has certainly been one that the management can well be proud of shipments from the belmont continues about the same and development work is is now confined to the and levels where arif drifts ts are being run on the vein on the a station has just been cut and a crosscut is being run to the vein at the jim butler a crosscut cross cut from the wandering boy shaft in the direction of the ore chute formerly encountered in the fraction has cut a vein twelve feet wide and a greater part of the twelve feet is of shipping quality the north star has been closed down for a short time but under the direction of consulting engineer donald B gillies work has recently been resumed the great sut success attained by mr gilles in picking up the faulted vein in the montana is ample assurance that his name would not be connected with the north star did he not have faith that it would delop into a paying property developments at the west end are fully meeting with the expectations of the management and a new strike of considerable importance is reported but particulars at this time are unobtainable at the mcnamara twenty two men are employed and while but little is being said by the company as to its developments the price of its shares during the recent slump has remained stronger than that of any other stock which speaks volumes for the confidence its share holders place in the future value of this mine the mckane mining company formerly known as the pittsburg mining company is crosscutting cross cutting from the 1100 level with the expectation that in the near future the vein will be encountered this is the deepest mine in the district and its development will be watched with interest the tonopah crown comp company anys which recently purchased the gold crown from jim butler and others has re incorporated with a capital of shares this property lies between the midway and the montana and is unquestionably one of great merit the golden anchor one the schwab mckane properties is crosscutting from the level and the ledge should be encountered within the next thirty days report has just reached the camp that work on the halifax owned by senator kearns and david keith of utah will be resumed in the near future and the shaft continued to a depth of 1500 feet this means murah much for the east section of the tonopah district and those best informed are of the opinion that the expected ore bodies will be encountered adjoining the halifax is is the mizpah extension on which it is expected work w will ill be started during the present summer this property having a very strong ledge of good milling value further development will unquestionably disclose large bodies of shipping ore on the extreme west is the pittsburg extension west tonopah and several other properties upon which developments are rapidly being prosecuted and as they are in line with well known mines of the district favorable disclosures may be expected at at any time the northwest part of the district is also attracting considerable attention the bos ton tonopah monitor being down about feet the tonopah silver and gold 75 feet tonopah monitor having just commenced development wor kand a number of others which expect to commence operations in the near future this section of the district has been overlooked for the last two years but those best informed now think very favorably of it and that during the present year several mines of importance will be opened in closing I 1 wish to say that never have conditions in tonopah been as good as at this time more men are being employed and more ore being shipped to the smelters shelters sm elters upon the completion of the broad guage of the railroad the output will be doubled and with the completion of the reduction works now contemplated greater things will be demonstrated in the future J W LANGLEY |
