Show THE DALY JUDGE STRIKE in commenting upon the recent sensational strike in the daly judge strike at park city the daily herald says A strike was made in the daly judge mine sunday night which gives promise of developing into the biggest thing in that line which has occurred in the old park city camp in many a long day at that time a full breast of ore was broken into on the 1400 foot level which consists of a mass of gray copper and cube galena which under separate assay on samples taken from the cars of sorted lead and copper ore gave returns as follows without separating the gold which the rock contained from the silver copper ore ounces silver and 32 per cent copper galena sixty ounces silver and 79 per cent lead nothing like it has previously been found in the mine and it is doubtful if anything resembling it was ever found in the camp before many things besides the metallic contents of the rock make the strike of significant importance to the mine in the first place it occurred at a point further west in the property than has ever previously been reached in the second place it was made after sending a drift over feet through a body of milling ore that has carried enough first class to almost take the mass out of the milling class entirely and at a vertical depth beneath the surface of 1700 feet and again the strike was made directly beneath the north run of the bonanza flat basin in ground that was originally included in the daly judge holdings before the purchase of the anchor in a region which in the judgment of manager 0 J salisbury and president john J daly would prove to be the best mineral producing portion of that section it has been made where the formation is at regular and unbroken as it is possible for ground to be and where rethe the walls of 0 the immense fissure stand as true a and nd well defined as though they had been constructed by the hands of man a fact fully illustrated in photographs on exhibition at the com banys offices in this city the strike I 1 while one of almost incalculable importance for tho the reasons stated is only an incident in the development of the great property which is just beginning to assert its value as a whole in what is known as the Me drift where a great avenue was blasted for 1100 feet straight away through solid ore and from which not a single pound has yet been scoped connections were recently made with the main avenue on the long tunnel level and it is now possible to run cars direct from the mill to the extreme western extremity of that drift this immense stretch of ore bearing ground is also in territory never touched by the anchor and can be counted upon to produce an enormous ton nage for a great many years to come but leaving these developments out of the reckoning entirely there is said to be at the present moment more th than an tons 0 of ore blocked out in the old anchor workings ore that the management of that property evidently never dreamed existed it is only a very few weeks since the reconstruction of the foot oper operating tunnel was completed and the working force in the mine has not yet been brought up to tho the maximum but for all that the company Is now marketing an average of fifty tons of concentrates cen per day which net approximately 35 per ton in addition to that thirty tons of crude ore an ore that is not counted as first class but which the management finds to be more profitable to market direct than to concentrates is being sent to the smelter this grade of ore is netting the company just about 15 per ton while an occasional car of high grade ore ore that has been netting 45 per ton is also going out as development progresses these figures are official and indicate that the company is now marketing 6 worth of ore per month without counting the high grade without running either mine or mill at capacity and without counting one ton of zinc worth about 12 per ton which is accumulated ton for ton with the concentrates made |
