Show KOERING MACHINE IN OPERATION milling is now on in earnest at the prop erty of the wasatch utah mining company in the foothills near the mouth of little cottonwood canyon about twenty miles in a southeasterly direction from salt lake city some few weeks ago mention was made in these columns of the equipment of the property with a machine manufactured by the koering cyanide process company of detroit michigan for the treatment of wasatch utah ores this consists of a drum in which there is a cylinder within a cylinder the ore being treated in the inner cylinder which filters to the outer cylinder through a lining the process being accelerated by the revolutions of the drum and the application of compressed air the solution as it is discharged from the drum is as clear as distilled water and the values are easily precipitated on zinc shavings and recovered by the usual methods of melting into bullion the drum handles a charge of about ten tons within a time limit of three hours and the discharge of the tailings is accomplished in less than ten minutes the drum within itself accomplishes all of the operations of recovery agitation and filtering thus doing away with an excess of machinery commonly the adjunct of most cyanide plants the plant was visited one day last week by john F cowan fred C richmond and will C higgins of salt lake accompanied by H M livingston representing the koering cyanide process company the visitors being much pleased with the operation of the drum and its perfect construction |
