is shown by the recent interest in albion following the cutting or of a great water channel there reports have filtered through that the rush of water precluding any investigation of conditions in the face has brought down masses of copper and silver lead ore and is scattering it along the track A rush for the stock has followed with a steady rise in the price for no one doubts that the albion is on the eve of most important developments when the interest inn nn terest first began to center upon the ata alta big cottonwood section last spring a great many people not conversant with the district were a little skeptical about reports but this feeling has worn off with developments for the properties there are more than living up to the claims that were made plans are practically complete for the sOl solving of the transportation problem a matter which has always held the district back representatives of several of the arger larger companies operating at alta have met together and formulated plans looking to the construction of an aerial tram from near the entrance to the south hecla tunnel to the present terminus of the salt lake alta railroad at wasatch a distance of practically eight miles the necessary funds for this undertaking are assured it is stated as also are the funds for a great drain tunnel to be commenced at the southwest comer of the wasatch mines ground and extended to a point under the old columbus workings the cost of tunnel and tram are estimated at 20 present at the meeting at which the plans were made were among others A 0 jacobson of the columbus extension and alta consolidated companies george H watson of the south hecla C H cowie J E beveridge and C H gibbs of the wasatch mines and C A walker J R walker and J M moore of the alta de eastern interests and local off officers acers of that company looking to the financing of a large campaign of development at their property has been successfully and that mining operations will be development reports from the sells property adjoining the south hecla on the west are that the recent strike of six inches of high grade ore in the raise being driven on that property has widened to nearly the width of the raise and is holding strong as work progresses this work is being done on a fissure that crosses the northwest drift being driven along the limestone quartzite contact in the southeast drift a stringer of ore which is being followed toward the known fissure of the sells is maintaining a regular width and has for feet this continuity is regarded as important the tar baby in big cottonwood canyon is within less than feet of the contact for which it is driving president C R greene states that the bore is now nearly 1900 feet into the mountain and has attained a vertical
