Show YAMPA TO GO DEEP manager C W Sax saxman maii of the yampa mine at bingham utah is sinking a triple compartment shaft at that property and expects to send the same down 2000 feet helow below the tunnel level which means 1 feet lelow the surface this is pretty deep mining for the bingham district where the ore is scoped practically to the surf surface aibe but it means a production for the yampa for many years to some the completion of this undertaking will necessarily take time and a deal of money but the prop pi op erty can stand it the sulphide ore bodies of the yampa are among the largest in the bingham district besides the copper content the ore carries gold values to pay for working and treatment expenses making a good profit even at a low price on the red metal meta I 1 it has been found that the values in the ore increase with depth and the extent of the bodies becomes reater greater and greater the new converter plant at the yampa smelter will be in operation about august 1st ast and this will make the company independent in the way of producing the flushed product the capacity of the plant will be 1000 tons a day and the mine will be amply able to this amount when the lower depths are tapped until this is possible it is probable that the united states company will resume the sending of tons daily from its centennial eureka mine at tintic gintic with its own smelter and such large ore bodies to draw from the yampa will take front rank for the cheap production of copper it is the intention of the tintic gintic mining development company which is the holding h hold ing company of the yampa properties to begin work on its tintic gintic ground located mammoth and grand central here also deep sinking is contemplated the development so far consists of a tunnel about three miles in length which has attained a depth of 1800 feet it is the intention to sink fully 1500 feet below the tunnel level as soon as possible besides its utah holdin holdings gs the tintic gintic mining development company own three copper mines and a smelter at vancouver blitsh columbia the company is thinking of building a new mill and another smelter at these mines and exhaustive tests are now being made of the ores |
