Chairman William M. Knerr of the state industrial commission, who is acting as a conciliator, said the conference would probably continue for three or four days. If the conferees agree upon i. a contract it will be submitted to the mine operators and locals of the International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers for approval before terms are made public. A previous conference, held early in February, drafted a contract, con-tract, but it was subsequently rejected by a referendum of the mine workers. Chairman Knerr, at the request of the union, asked ask-ed the operators to reopen the negotiations and they agreed to the second' conference. |
