SOIL INVOKED AS SPIRITUAL APPREHENSION "Soul" Is the subject of the ser-mon to be read In all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, February 16. The Golden Text: "Unto thee. O Lord, do I lift up my soul. Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths," Is from Psalms 25:1,4 The lesson-sermo- n also Includes the Bible passage: "And he said unto them, When ye pray, say. Our Father which art in heaven, Hal-lowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as In heav-en, so In earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive Indebted to us. evsry one that is And lead us not Into temptation; but deliver us from evil" (Luke 11:2,3,4); and the following correla-tive from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "The Lord's Prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick Is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God, a spiritual understanding of Him, an unseized love." (p. 1). BONUS MAY START "FIREWORKS" On June 15, the United States Tieasury can be called upon to pay out S2, 500,000,000 in cash. This is the amount of mon-ey required to redeem the baby bonds ordered paid to veterans . by Congress, over Pres. Roosevelt's brief, agressive veto mes-sage. How many veterans will actually take the cas.li, and fore-go the 3 per cent compound interest they will be paid if they hold their bonds until 1945, is a burning question. A still more burning question is, Where will the money come from? Congress passed the bonus but left it up to the execu-tive branch to find the wherewithal. The President does not want to issue printing press money. Nor does he want to pay off the bonus by issuing another bond issue. Many think that he will ask Congress to create new taxes to bear the cost. In an election year, new taxes strike fear into the hearts of all , officials running for reelection. Some fire-works arei to be expected. A survey made by the American Legion to determine what veterans will do with their new money is interesting. Thirty-tou- r per cent will go for investments and savings or be held in uncashed bonds. Twenty-si- x per cent of the money will go for homes, farms and equipment, and twenty-thre- e und one-ha- lf per cent for all debts. Personal expenditures will take eleven and one-ha- lf per cent, and new automobiles, five per cent.
