Show Base Ball Notes. The long -looked -for games between the Rough &, Ready and Deseret base ball clubs have at last been definitely arranged. The first of a series of best two out of three games will take place oo Wasbingtoa square on Saturday, August 25th. These games will be for the championship of the territory. The R. & R's have strong hopes of winning. They will have in their nine three of the best players of the D's. The D's, however, have been hard at work training up'tsome new players that is, players who have not been in match games for several 3 ears, but who were formerly considered very fine in the east. The manager of the D's thinks that his nine will be fully as strong as before. Taking all things into consideration, the lovers of the game will see some of the finest ball playing ever witnessed in this territory. terri-tory. We hope the boy a will keep the score down, and show the citizens of this place that Uiah is not behind ether states and territories in turning out good players of the national game. The DdsereU will wear in these games plain blue stockings in place of the blue stripes formerly worn, while the Rough & Randy's will appear ap-pear lu their new uniforms. Mr. Alston, catcher of the Des-erets, Des-erets, is now practicing with the wire mask generally worn by eastern catchers. If it is a success be will use it ij the games hereafter. We think this a very sensible move on bis part, and hope to see ail the catchers follow bis example and thereby lessen the chances for acci dents. Seats will be arranged in the same manner as when the gamas with the Cheyennes were played. Tickets to seats, 25 cents each game. Can be had at Liviberg's cigar store, Miiu street. |
