Show We do not much like the news about Senator Morton, and fear he may never take his place in the senate sen-ate again. When he left San Francisco Fran-cisco a few weeks since his health had so far failed that he bad to be handled and lifted like a dead weight in being taken to the cars. Going east he was striken with paralysis, from the effects of which hedoes not seem to be rallying. rally-ing. Senator Morton's absence from the public councils would be greatly regretted, though in a political sense it might not be considered untimely. The country has outgrown the necessity neces-sity for statesmen of his type, and his retirement would now only a little anticipate the extinction of the republican re-publican party as a national lorco. |
