Show FAUIFIU COAST AEWS. CALIFORNIA. A recent arrival from Panamint reports business matters in that mining min-ing camp now miserably dull. The Wyoming mine, the property of J. P. Jones, is now employing about forty men, but no new machinery ia being erected or brought in. C. C. Haynes, one of the pioneer Btago men of the Pacific coast, states that hundreds of destitute Arizona miners are strag gling along the road on their way bick to San Francisco. A San Francis) paper says: "The market value of the whole Comstoek has ever been of a fictitious character. It has represented hundreds of millions mil-lions of dollars on paper, while in fact, intrinsically, it should have been current only among the millions. When we realize that the value of the Comstoek in the share market has represented for the last four or five years a sum equal to the whole circulating circu-lating currency of the United States, then we are able to comprehend the degree of madness or of folly under which the Btock-dealine community haa been laboring." Yat this same journal some months ago attempted to demonstrate that the real value ol the bonanza mines was more fabulous than any one had ever conceived. Lieutenant Fleming, recently arrested ar-rested for the robbery of the government govern-ment and others, was a graduate of West Point, class of 1SG6, had the reputation of being the fast man of the post of Alcatraz, spending most ol his leisure in the city, and it is not improbable that most of his steal was lest at the card table. The Call of Sunday says: During the past week the names of five gentlemen, gen-tlemen, who have signed over tneir property to their creditors, have been mentioned. Their stock is said to have cost them upwards of $9,000,-000, $9,000,-000, for which immenae amount of money they have, perhaps, little to show. From the way such operators have had to bend to circumstances, it may be judged how the masses who have dealt in stocks are affected. There are three important counties on the southern coast of Calilornia without railroad communication. These are San Louis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura. In one ol them, Ventura, oil deposits of considerable con-siderable magnitude are being developed. devel-oped. These three counties want a coast railroad that will connect with the Southern Pacific.
