Show Exlcnnlve Forest Fires Tlio St. Sleplieus (JuiillagraLion. Moore's Junction, 15. The fire thia afternoon is upon both sides of the Ogdensburg and Lake Champlain railroad, between this station and Cherubusco. The woods are on fire at Cannon's corner, five miles from hire. Every house was burned last night. The fire has just broken out in Stockpole, three miles from Aetena station, and tho whole place ia in flames. St. Johns, N. B., 15. The St. Stephens fire broke out at 2:30 yesterday yes-terday in Ganong's stable, in the rear of his store on Water street. The wind was blowing heavily from the northwest, and the fire spread quickly and caught Mark's building, going from there down to the Watson bouse, on the corner of King street, down Water street. About seventy buildings were destroyed and forty-three families famil-ies wero burned out, beaideB the Watson Wat-son house hotel and Breen's boarding houses. Scarcely anything was saved from the stores on Water street, as the goods were burned after removal from the buildings. Three men from Calais, named Curry, Buckley and Jackson, were hurt by a falling chimney, chim-ney, the latter two badly. |
