The funniest convention ever held in this conventional country and age wa3 that called the prohibition national na-tional convention held at Cleveland, Ohio, on Wednesday, which nominated nomi-nated General Green Glay Smith of Kentucky for president of the United States and G. T. Stewart of Ohio for vice president. Xot content with demanding de-manding the passage by congress of prohibition legislation in regard to the liquor traffic in the District of Columbia Colum-bia and the territories, and the adoption adop-tion of treaty stipulations with foreign nations to prevent the trade in alcoholic alco-holic liquors, the platform adopted covers every variety of political topics, from tho use of the bible in the public schools and the national observance ob-servance of tho Sabbath to a reduction reduc-tion of postage and immediate specie' payments. Bnt the convention was not harmonious in its declaration of principles, and a minority platform, differing materially from that of the majority was presented. Now let the female EuflragUta, the anti-secret Bociety party, the God-in-thc-constitu-tion people, the miller.narians and all the other organized obstructionists ho'.d conventions and put their candidates can-didates belorc the people.
