Gates was made temporary chairman. After tho appointment of com-miiteea com-miiteea the convention adjourned till the afternoon. It is understood the democrats are running the convention con-vention in their own interests, and will attempt also to create disaflection among the republicans -on he temperance tem-perance question. Upon reassembling the convention adopted a piatlorm declaring that labor, tho creator of wealth, is either denied its just reward, or is unemployed, unem-ployed, and productive industries are paralyzed by the mismanagement of the national finances; therefore First Thespecie resumption clause should be repealed forthwith, and contraction be abandoned. Second Government should issue legal tender paper money receivable for all debts; national banks should De anonanea. Third The BiWer dollar should be remonetized and made a legal tender for the payment of all government bonds and other debts. Fourth Equitable taxation. Fifth Civil service. Sixth All class legislation should be repealed. Seventh Alcoholic traffic and consequent con-sequent evils should be eradicated. Eighth OpposeB all subsidies.
