Show A Sensible Com promise IV o Orange Oeiiioua (.ratio 11. Montreal, Jl. An Orange mass meeting was held last night to decide whether tbe Orangemen should parade on the 12th. Col. Grant, deputy county master, occupied the chair. It was decided by & vote of sixty-two to fifty-five that the Orangemen Orange-men as a body should not parade, but that such individual members as saw fit might walk to the Knox church, where special services are to be held, but that they should do bo without regalia. It ia understood this decision is arrived at through tbe influence in-fluence of a joict meeting of the na lional temperance and benevolent societies of this city, both Catholic and Protestant. The president and aecretary of the Orange meeting intimated inti-mated the result of the vote to a subcommittee sub-committee appointed by the societies, requesting their in 11 a once in their different departments to prevent any individual molestation on the 12th. A vote of thauks to the Orangemen of the city of Montreal was passed by the different societies wheu they re ceived the result of the vote. |
