Show The Walker House Ball. I The first people of Salt Lake have never appeared to hotter advantago then on last evening. Tho invitations invita-tions to the grand ball and promenade prome-nade concert at the Walker house were responded to to the number of about 120 couples, who, having had ample time for preparation, appeared in all the glory of gorgeouB magnificence magnifi-cence and brilliancy. It was indeed one of the greatest displays of wealth and beauty that has been Been in this city. Each of the fair ladies tried to eclipse the other in elecance ol toilette, toi-lette, and all strove to put the grandest lustre possible upon the whole affair. But aside from the handsome and costly toilettes, the ball was brilliant occasion, socially, wnd was the season of much enjoyment among upper circle; cir-cle; Soon after 9 o'clock the dancing danc-ing commenced and was joyously kept up till early morn; and from bof re midnight till the dancers had retired, sumptuous supper, gotten up in the Walker houso well-known favorite stylo, was spread for the guests. The several committees who arranged and had charge of the affair, won the ad-mirutionof ad-mirutionof all for the artistic manner in which ihey conducted it, and the pleasure they succeeded in creating. |
