Show Eagle Rock Canal. A canal company has betn formed t Kjgle Rock, the canal to be constructed con-structed a distance of thirty miles. The preliminary Burveya have been made and tbe range staked out in the early part of the eeaeon. Mr. Handy baa been eotaged and iaeipected to commence operations shortly. The canal is to be twenty feet wide at the bottom, and fcur feet deep. The icgiceer was greatly surprised in making the eurveyB at tha facility with which so large an area of rich od fertile country could be irrigated. Tbe line ol the ditch will lay aloDg a dividing ridge, from each eide ol which, covering a distance of five miles in width, for an extent of twenty miles, tbe land can be easily irrigated. Tbe land in that vicinity ia described as beitg peculiarly suited to raieiog smaller cere 1b, and is quite rich and fertile. In addition to the advantages thus obtained there are quite a number of placer mines on tbe same tide of Soake River aa that on which the canal is to be constructed, and oo its completion tbe water will he used for sluicing purposes, and it is expected tb-it mining operations will be lively in consequence. Tbe estimated cost of this long canal is not given, and it is a question if tbe few incorporators will be able to push tbe enterprise through. Should they, however, be able to accomplieh their deaiga, the benefit that will be derived therefrom will be incalculable. |
