It ia estimated that Bix thousand persons get their mail in the Colorado camp and the rush there ia unabated. Build-ing Build-ing ia more lively than it was months ago, aad the production of ore has been doubled within two months. About seventy-five tona of ore a day is the yield of the district, and none nF iKo minpa Via hppn Wflrkfld to its capacity, the product being entirely from development and exploration. New discoveries are frequently reported re-ported and everything is said to "boom." It is to be hoped that Leadville has aot reached the zenith ot its greatness; but we fear its hidtory cau be traced in too many mining camps of the weBt. A few years ago Utah had half a dozsn Leadvilles, but a change baa come over them all. The mines do not appear to have "played out," yet it is a peculiar fact that with the exception of two or three towns, tbe mining burgs of this territory are aa dull, inactive and quiet as agricultural villages. |
