Show Theatre. Last night a small but appreciative audience witnessed tho lirst presentation presen-tation of the beautiful new play of "Shadows." This is a very good piece and deserving of much better patronage that it received last night. Miss Graham appeared to great advantage ad-vantage as Helen Lauriston, and elicited much applause. She was well sustained by the company in the cast. This evening, or the benefit of Miss Graham, tho great New York success, by Geo. Fawcett Howe, entitled en-titled the " Geneva Cross," will be presented for the first time. This piece is founded upon incidents in the late French and Prussian war, and abounds in sensational and thrilling effects, stirring scenes and Cue dramatic situations. sit-uations. It had an immense run in New York, where it was a pronounced success. It has been played moro or less in all the leading cities east and west, and wherever produced has been equally successful. Miss Annie Graham appears as Gabrielle Le Brur, a part well suited to her powers and one which she renders intelligently intelli-gently and effectively. Tho piece is strongly cast, the best talent of the company appearing in it. In addition addi-tion to which, through the courtesy of General Morrow, a fife and drum baud and a number of the soldiers from Camp Douglas will appear and take part in the play. A fine performance per-formance may be expected. ' |
