Show The Fair and Races. The Elock fair, under the auspices of the D. A. iM. Society, commences on Tuesday morning closing Wednesday Wed-nesday evening, and from present appearances it promises to be a success, suc-cess, even greater than was anticipat ed by the managers, considering the I lateness of the season. Several parties par-ties have signified their intention of j exhibiting stock, and last evening a number of fine Devons (thoroughbreds) (thorough-breds) from the north arrived in the city by the Utah Central. But the races will be the attractive feature for the city people. The catalogue cata-logue as at firtt adopted, was published pub-lished in last Saturday's Herald, but at the meeting of tho board last evening even-ing it was changed in some important import-ant particulars which ensures additional addi-tional interest on the part of horse ownera and the public. Tho half mile j dash and repeat, and he mile dash i and repeat, both free for all, havej been changed to single dashes; and: it was also decided to allow winning horses to enter for second prizes, on the same conditions as new euiries. We understand that entries have been made for all races, which will commence at 1 o'clock p.m. on each day, the Btock fair opening at 10 o'clock each mornning. The entrance to the park will be from First North street, which has been repaired and placed in tine con-; dition for carriages;- and the noilo track at the park having been completed com-pleted wdl be thrown open to public driving on the fair days. |
