Show The Episcopal General Convention. Con-vention. New York, 17. This afternoon a message was received from the House of Bishops expressing gratification at the financial report of the trustees of the fund for the relief of widows and orphans of deceased clergymen, and recommendiug the adoption ol measures meas-ures to increase the funds and extend ex-tend the usefuln ess of the organiza-1 tion. The message was concurred iu. Another message, from ihe Bishops, was received which recommended tho the adoption of the following canon of the chinch: It shall be the duty of every minister min-ister of the church, with such assistance assis-tance as ho cau obtain from persons skilled iu music, to give orders concerning con-cerning the tunes to be sung at any time in his church, aud especially it' shall be hie duty to suppress all liyht and unseemly music aud all indecency inde-cency and irreverence in its performance, perform-ance, by which vain and ungodly persons may profane the service oi" tne sanctuary, and further that this canon bo numbered order twenty-one of title one, and the present canon bo numbered '22. Resolved, the House of Cicrica 1 Lay Deputies concurring, that this canon be printed in pfftce of the resolution reso-lution on the same Bubjcct heretofore hereto-fore prel'errud to psalms rn metre and hymnal. These messages were referred to the committee on canons. Rev. Mr. Blair, M. P., K;iVe notice that on Monday he would submit a motion to revoke rule 17 with regard to holding secret sessions. It was moved and seconded that the testimonies in the case of Bishop Wells of Wisconsin, having been signed by a majority of the dioceses, they should be sent to tho House Bishops for concurrence.
