Show The Liquor Traffic. The following is the copy of a petition pe-tition now in circulation in this city, regarding the liquor traffic, and one which we believe seeing it confers a large discretionary power upon the city council will be signal by an overwhelming majority of the people: To the Hon, the Mayor and City Council of Salt Lake City: Gknti.EMKN": We, the undersigned, citizens of Salt Lake City, viewing with deep regret the growth of intemperance intem-perance and its kindral vices in our beautiful city so sadly in contrast with its past history and believing that it is the duty of all good citizens, who prefer sobriety, good order and decency, to intemperance, brawling and licentiousness, to unite themselves, them-selves, irrespective of creal or party, in adopting such legal and honorable measures as shall arrest the growth of these great and growing evils; therefore, respectfully but earnestly petition your honorable 1hm.1v not to license any liqour saloons "tippling, I and dram shops hereafter; and to I prohibit, so far as you have power, ! the sale of all spirituous and malt liquors, except for malicinal purposes, purpos-es, within the limits of this city.
