Show A Jockey CInb for Utah. At the meeting of men interested in "the turf in Utah, helJ last night in the office of Mark McKimmins' liven- p Li hi es, Dr. J. M. Williamson w:js called to the chair, and Mr. C. A. Chad wick to be secretary. Aiter some pertinent remarks, Mr. H. T. Kimball proposed that a Joeke'y Club for Utah be formed, and the motion carried. Mr. Bolivar Roberts moved the appointment ap-pointment of a committee of six to draw up a constitution and by-laws, which was al.-o carried, and the following fol-lowing gentlemen wore appointed such committee : Bnlivar Roberts, IL J. Faut, II. P. Kimball, S. S. Walker, John Morehous and Cbas. Forman. A motion that a committee of five be appointed lo solicit members was offered and pasnil, and Mark Me-Kimmins, Me-Kimmins, A. J. Pendleton, H. P. Kimball, S. S. Walker and William Nay lor were appointed the committee. commit-tee. The meeting then adjourned until Friday (to-morrow) October 10th, to meet in the banking house of Messrs. Tracy & Co. This is the first practical step towards to-wards securing a much needed system sys-tem of rules and regulations for turi matters in this Territory, where fast horses arc rapidly increasing, and racing will be a notable feature of the future. |
