Show "Andy." The telegraph failed to inform us that ex-President Johnson had decided to run for congress in Tennessee, Ten-nessee, for the State at large. But he has; and he is making a wonderful canvass can-vass so far. The largest and most enthusiastic political meetings that perhaps per-haps ever assembled in Tennessee greet him wherever he goes; and his friends confidently expect his election over the regular Democratic candidate, even if the Republicans do make a nomina- j tion. Over ten thousand persons lis-! toned to bis first campaign speech in Nashville, and tbe utmost enthusiasm was manifested. Evidently tho star of Andy's destiny has not yet set, and his enemies in congress are likely to again hear from him in those classic halls where the talking-mill for tho country is so steadily kept running during congressional con-gressional sessions. |
