The following are the particulars of the shooting affray at Washington, Yolo county, last evening, between Winslow Fickett and E. H. Woode. An unneighhorly feeling had existed between the two families for some time, and on yesterday yester-day E. H. Woods attempted to remove two logs from the side-walk in front of Fickett'B residenoe.put there to prevent teams from destroying the side-walk. Miss Fickett requested Woods to desist, de-sist, but he refusing, she threw Borne hot water over him, and with the assistance of bor sister, and a broomstick, broom-stick, drove him away. One of the ladies olaims that during the melee Woods cut her band with a knife. Their brother, Winslow Fickett, a young mechanic, learning of the disturbance, dis-turbance, started in quest of Woods, and meeting him on the street, shortly afterwards, knocked him down. When Woods fell he drew a revolver and shot Fickett in the right arm, fracturing tho bone. The young man, although unarmed, continued to punish pun-ish Woods, when he received the contents con-tents of a second chamber in the chest. Fickett is dangerously wounded. |
