The deficiency bill was resumed and passed with amendments. The tariff" bill was discussed. Trumbull Trum-bull moved to amend to repeal tho duty on coal and salt; rejected. Caeserly moved to strike out tao first of July, and make the bill taki effect at once, which was rejected and the bill passed. Senate adjourned. HOl'SK. A bill to encourage tbe planting of trees and tbo preservation of woods on tho public domain was discussed and defeated de-feated by SI to SS. The tariff" bill was discussed, Dawes declaring he would not support it unless it wo9 greatly moditlod. Adjourned. |
