Show j D. W. Voorhees, one of the most coppcr-hucd politicians of the copperhead copper-head stripe, is publicly accused of having hav-ing sold out to the radical Republicans. The introduction of a bill bo flagrantly at variance with his life-long professions profes-sions as the one directed against Utah, might havo been passed over in silence by many who care little what outrage.-arc outrage.-arc perpetrated on tho Mormons, but his infuriated attack on Greeley, bis bitter rejoinders to Democratic congressmen con-gressmen who question him, and hit-adulation hit-adulation of general Grant, whom he n nftf:o and so btrondv denounced, arc considered as proof positive that he lias effected a change of base. It is said tho object is to divide the Democratic Demo-cratic party, leading Republicans considering con-sidering that his influence will accomplish accom-plish that if tho Baltimore convention endorses the Cincinnati ticket; or, that tho same purpose can bo accomplished by the nomination of Hendricks. The rc-clcction of Prosidcnt Grant is confidently confi-dently counted on in either event, as a division of tho Democratic vote would weaken tho enemy and strengthen Grant's adherents. |
