Every newspaper is destroyed, and the proprietors are telographing east for power presses. The lire- extended to 22ad street on the south. Tho whole of the south, between Wabash and State streets is in ashes. Over twenty-five twenty-five thousand buildings were destroyed. The agonizing appeal of the authorities authori-ties goes out for help, and tho whole country is aroused to succor the suffering. suffer-ing. There lias boen a fearful panic in Wall street. The loss of lifo by the fire has been appalling. All vessels, elevators, banks, hotels, theatres, railroad rail-road dopots, warehouses, stores, etc., were destroyed. At 3 a.m., the W.
