Show SiiAKiNd MortMONDOir. The announcement an-nouncement by tho federal judge in Utah of his determination to punish bigamy, evincing thereby a more lively appreciation of tho ficinousncss of that oU'enuc than is sometimes exhibited ex-hibited in the United States, where offenders occupy high political positions, posi-tions, seems to havo created qui to a : commotion in the Mormon camp. Brigham Young has discovered that Satan is the ally of the United States ' officers in Utah, which, if ipuo, would ; indicate that the prince of Barkncss, ' like other politic peoplo, is not slow in deserting ilia own associates, when ho i can improve his position thereby, and i going over to the strong side. It is , evident that tho great Mormon is 1 somewhat aiarmed by the new alliance, I and is beginning to fear the result. As i for himself individually, though having hav-ing such a number of wives that it is said he only discovers by accident when one of them has eloped, we have no doubt the United States govern- uieDt, .should he be convicted, would j be merciful, as in tbo case of Bowon, and that his prospects for becamiog a I future governor of Utah would bo no more damaged thereby than are those ofBowcnas governor of South Caro-1 Caro-1 lina. Personally, the Mormon prophet, , in view of his advanced years, may be regarded as contending for a mere abstraction ab-straction in regard to polygamy, having hav-ing in it as little that is practical as tho principle formerly insisted upon by the Southern States, of carrying slavery into the Territories. It is to be presumed that tbo Utah patriarch will not find less mercy for his theories in Utah than other public celebrities, for their practices in Washington. Perhaps one easy solution of the difficulty diffi-culty might be found in resorting to supernatural intervention, and as polygamy po-lygamy was introduced by a revelation, he could easily repeal it by a similar process.
