' MAMMOTH, The owners of this lode met last even-ling, even-ling, and organized by electing P. L. i Smith. president;. I. 0. Oyer, treasurer; and W. M. Mase, secretary. Hcports from the Ferris lode continue con-tinue very favorable. 1 hope to be able in my next to report the shipment of tho h'rst ear of galena from Wyoming. Wy-oming. HCtlOOh ELECTION. On Saturday evening, in pursuance ! of a call, the citizen tax-payers met 1 together and re-elected tfee old board ' of school directors. Opposed to tho board was the school superintendent and two individuals whom ho endeavored endea-vored to have roturncd, in order to use them as tools, but the better judgment of tho peoplo frustrated his designs. It has transpired that because a few railroad officials can't get office, they aro endeavoring to make it unpleasant unplea-sant for tho incumbents of public positions. A prominent railroad man has the unblushing impudence to offer his oliitcr dictum and attempt to force his subordinate into a submission to (US will, out lie umsii'iu-iuuii; vi mum with a proper respect for him oro he can "run" our institutions, Tho material he used recently was of such a base fabric it could not hold together, and so the worthies are again consigned con-signed to public contempt. U appears these men, the cohort of Campbell Camp-bell and the Washinton government, govern-ment, are in "cahoot" with the local thieves, and havo constituted themselves a "ring" to swindle their unsuspecting fiieuds('0- It is often remarked that a corporation "has no soul" and so it seems ; for a number of these fellows, acting on that hypothesis, hypoth-esis, aro robbing the company every day, and rumor has it that many changes are rendered necessary to prevent pre-vent the under current from stealing blind the greater rascals I They wield their power with great gU3to and declare de-clare their only object to be to "drown out" the resident attorney of this place in order, no doubt, to prevent being punished for their many misdeeds. 1 am happy to be able to state that our entire school system will now flourish, the hands of the utterly unworthy superintendent being in a measure tied. He is an ignoramus of the "first water" and did he have remaining a spark of principle, honor or good sense he would desist from attempting in the future to parade himself before his fellow fel-low men, aud trying to insult their intelligence. It is unnecessary to say that he is the tool of governor Campbell, Camp-bell, and brainless, like his master. As ho is small game no more ammunition ammu-nition need be expended on him but he may retire with a vcrbum at sapient i! RESIGNED. J. II. Howe, chief justice of this Territory, resigned recently and has returned to Ivcwanncc, 111., disappointed disap-pointed in his aims and ambitions. Like your McKean he was an arbitrary man, and proved, as will tho chief justico of Utah, a complete failure. A poorer lot of jurists (?) were never perpetrated per-petrated on any community than have recently comprised the judiciary of Wyoming. Corruption Becras to be tho basis of everything the administration administra-tion proposes, and Cod knows we have seen the results of it here. POLITICAL. By the official count of voles cast at our September election, it will be seen that wc had a Democratic victory. The entire vote has been canvassed and certificates will issue in due time. PERSONAL. Several of our prominent citizens, among whom arc Col. 0. R Wilson and Hon. .1. 0. Friend, members of the assembly, contemplate a visit to Halt Lako this winter. IMPROVEMENTS. It, is on dit that orders were recently re-cently received here to erect a new hotel on the si-ht of the burnt district, and to build five additional stalls to the round-house. Tho erecting the hotel and other improvements will prove quite an acquisition to the place and furnish much labor. Weather cool aud pleasant. More anon, Clai;ie. |
