Show ltoASTiNU Furnace. Mr. J. S. ( Akin, of this city, is now crcctiug a roastiug furnance contiguous to the Pioneer mill of Messrs. Walker Bro'p, Mast canon, having leased ground from those gentlemen for tho purpose. The furnace is according to a patent of his own, a model of which can be seen at tho office of Judge Haydon, Trowbridge's Trow-bridge's building; aud it is claimed for it that it will roast ores at half the cost and work them up to a higher per centage than the methods of roasting in ordinary use. When the work is completed ho will roast tho ores to bo reduced by Iho Pioneer mill, but his work is not connected with the mill, nor is it l)cing constructed by Messrs. Walker Bro's as some have imagined. There is a good deal of interest attached at-tached to the work, and the success of the patentee in Utah will be gratify- ing to his friends. |
