Show By Tele graph. j FIRE IX YHIGIMA CITV, .NEVADA. Virginia City, Feb. 2. A fire occurred oc-curred here this morning, which was the most destructive that has visiter! this city for years. The tire crossed L) street, and swept two-thirds of the east side of the street from Union to Sutton avenue. At one time McKay's stable, corner of D and Union streets, was on fire, and tearing down the building was commenced to save Piper's Opera House, but by almost super human exertions, finally the building was saved. Along L street, on the east ami west sides, the destruction destruc-tion was immense. Lo-s and insurance not yet ascertained. Pal Lyons and a bootblack, known an Snorkey. were burned to death in Sherman's Home; they were sleeping there and were not awakened in time to make their escape. |
