Show " RA3fiE." We are under, obligations obliga-tions to Wm. Gardner, Esq., for a specimen spe-cimen of the '.' Ramie" -cotton; which, according to a letter received by him from New Orleans, with the specimen enclosed, is becoming very popular in that locality, and threatens to entirely supersede King Cotton. The fibic of the Ramie is very soft and bears a close analogy to silken fur. - Mr, Gardner Gard-ner thinks it can be grown profitably in Southern Utah, on moist, swampy land ; at least the experiment is well worth trying, as it yield- from 3,000 to 4,000 lb?, per acre. : |
