Show Ogde.w From Hon. L. J. Herrick, Mayor of Ogden, we learned yesterday that lively times are expected in that city, and prospects are brightening, while quietness and prosperity prevail. In mineral matters progress is being made. Some very fine specimens have been obtained, but definite results as to their richness are not yet known. Up Ogden canon, some ten miles from the railroad, prospecting has been going on for coal, and with such satisfactory results re-sults that $3,000 has already been offered for the claim and refused. We congratulate Ogden more upon this discovery, should it prove as valuable as expected, then upon all the argentiferous argen-tiferous galena yet "struck" in that region. A coal discovery at Ogden, of good quality, would be of incalculable benefit to that city and the whole valley. |
