CAMPBELLS VIEWS Ohio Will Surely Be Carried By the Silver Democrats New York July ExGovernor Campbell of Ohio who is at the Fifth Avenue hotel does not think the National Na-tional gold Democrats will hold the balance of power In that state He had no criticism to make concerning the recent re-cent committee meeting of that party held in this city There are influential cold standard Democrats in Ohio he said but I do not think they are strong enough to change the results next November In the last election many of the single standard Democrats voted for Bryan My opinion Is that nothing but bad methods or egregious mistakes on the part of the Democratic machine can lose the state to the Republicans next fall The drift Is in favor of the Democratic party Mr Chapman the regular nominee of the Democratic party will be elected The force of gravity the momentum of popular popu-lar sentiment will carry the state for the SIlver Democrats I do not think the single standard Democrats can change the tide and effect a different result re-sult GOVERNOR HAUSERS VIEWS ExGovernor Hauser of Montana is a free silver man and a personal friend of Clevelad When asked about the strength of the Gold Democrats in his State he replied They have no strength and no organization organ-ization In Montana But we are not interested in-terested in the political game at present I The tariff measure is claiming our attention at-tention Personally I am opposed to the Dingley bill because I do not believe m a high tariff But If the rich east is to be protected I say let the west derive some benefit from the tariff Wool Is protected and that will please our sheep raisers It Is one of our greatest great-est products and now the Industry will revive re-vive We are pleased to know we can carry on the beet sugar Industry I think Montana will become a great beet raising suite We shall produce sugar for the country and all these troubles about differentials in the tariff will bo heard of no more Of course this will be some years from now
