Show F MORRIS WAS FINED The Hard Luck of a Landlord Who Had a Deliquent Tenant Robert S Morris who was arrested on Thursday afternoon upon complaint com-plaint of Mrs Fannie Solomon was given a hearing before Justice Mar getts yesterday Morris is the owner of the premises at 643 East Fburth South street It seems that the lady mentioned in the case has been the tenant of Mr Mbr ris for some time past and became delinquent de-linquent sn the payment of about four months rent Morris claims tie demanded de-manded payment several times and notified no-tified Mrs Solomon that unless she paid him foe rent due it would be necessary nec-essary for him to take steps to remove re-move her from the place Mrs Solomon went away for a visit On the 18th inst she was absent from home so Morris took advantage of the > opportunity and removed her household house-hold effecits to a barn where he stored tfliem away and when Mrs Solomon returned he refused to give them up until the back rent was paid Justice Margetts at the conclusion of the hearing fined the defendant 740 and costs of suit which in all amounted to 25 Morris was released upon his own recognizance until this morning when it is likely her will produce pro-duce the amount of the fine and besides be-sides turn over the furniture taken from the hoarse to the owner |
