| Show THREE FRIENDS FREE Judge Lock Hands Down a Decision in the Case Jacksonville Fla June iIn the United States court Judge Lock today handed down a decision in the case of the steamer Three Friends charged with violating the neutrality laws by carrying a filibustering expedition to Cuba and also an armed vessel dismissing dis-missing the libel for forfeiture In giving giv-ing the decision Judge Lock said Careful examination in this case fails to find any testimony showing that the vesel was fitted out and armed within the limits of the United States I does not show that she was loaded with arms and ammunition within 15 or 2 miles of the shore The further charge that the vessel took on Jt additional arms or ammunition on the Island of Navassa which is American soil was not confirmed by the testi mony I shows that the vessel touched there for a short time but i does not show that it did anything that is in violation of the neutrality laws of this country Three other cases are pending against the vessel but they are likely to bed be-d smlss d as the evidence is much the same as In the present case The district dis-trict attorney will await advices from Washington a to what future action to take in thif present case |
