Show WANTS A NEW FRANCHISE PEIOX OF THIS BIG CTT AVOOI POWER COMPANY Wishes to Extend Its Lines to Murray Mur-ray and Siuidy To Be Completed By November 1 1807 The Big Cottonwood Power company yesterday petitioned the board of county coun-ty commissioners for a franchise to extend ex-tend its lines to Murray and Sandy with several branch lines The course over which the lines are proposed to j be run is given in the petition as follows j fol-lows j From the intersection of the county i road or highway No thirtyseven 37 and highway No sixtyseven 67 westerly over said highway No sixty II j seven 67 ic the Jordan river also I from the intersection of highway No eight 8 to the city limits of Salt Lake City and southerly over said highway No eight 8 to a point on said highway high-way due west from the south boundary of the city of Sandy Also from the Intersection of highway No one 1 and highway No sixty 60 westerly on highway No sixty 60 to highway No eight 8 Also from the intersection of highway No sixty 60 and highway No five 5 north on said highway No five 5 to the city limits of Salt Lake I City Also from the intersection of I highway No one 1 and highway No i fiftythree 53 easterly on said highway high-way No fiftythree 53 to highway No thirtyone 31 The terms of the franchise are about the same as that previously granted with the exception of one or two sections sec-tions relating to the furnishing of light to county buildings Under the old charter the company is bound to furnish light in the county buildings free of charge This the company evidently evi-dently has found does not pay and so they have proposed that the following fol-lowing sections be incorporated in the new franchise The said The Big Cottonwood Power Pow-er company its successors and assigns shall supply light for use in the county I buildings and highways and on property prop-erty owned or controlled by the county j through standard types of incandescent lamps at a price not to exceed one 1 I cent per hour for each sixteencandle power lamp and ten dollars 10 per I month for allnight service every night in the month for arc lamps of two thousand 2000 candle power for exterior I ex-terior or Interior lighting The said The Big Cottonwood Power company its successors and assigns shall furnish fur-nish to the county power for the use of the county at not to exceed eighty dollars 80 per horse power per year for twentyfourhour service in each dayrhe rhe said The Big Cottonwood Power Pow-er company its successors and assigns shall furnish light or power along the line of construction outside of the city limits o Salt Lake City Utah for private uses at rates not exceeding the standard prices at which light or power is or hereafter may be furnished by any company or party holding a franchise fran-chise from Salt Lake City to the use of the streets thereof to private consumers con-sumers within the limits of Salt Lake City such prices not to include the cost of construction to reach any private pri-vate consumer of light or power and the price to the county shall not include in-clude cost of construction to reach any of the county property The proposed franchise calls for the completion of the line by November 1 1897 the work to begin not later than November 1 of this year |
