CUTTING DOWN TiE STACKS Smelters Are Getting Into Shape for Improvement But four stacks are now being operated op-erated by the smelters in the valley although after a rest of two or three weeks the matte furance at the Han auer which closed down yesterday will again be in operation Of the four the Germania has two and the Pennsylvania and Hanauer one each Some very extensive and important improvements are < to be made at the smelters during the coming open season sea-son Already tIe site of the proposed new furnaces at the Germania is being cleared off in preparation for the actual ac-tual construction which is to follow in the very near future while both of the other plants are figuring on new ore roasters
